SUMMARY:Virtual Weaving Workshops - Private & Small Group
DESCRIPTION:Although the pandemic kept the Fiber Garden from opening its home for workshops for a couple of years\, virtual learning was the next best thing!  And why stop after the threat of the pandemic subsides?  In some ways\, virtual learning can be better. Imagine your own private weaving coach! All workshops will be conducted via Zoom with the Fiber Garden’s masterful weaving instructor\, Susan Frame. Susan has been teaching weaving at the Fiber Garden for more than 20 years and has built an impeccable reputation for guiding weaving students to meet and exceed their learning goals. \nWe have a wide range of harness loom\, inkle weaving\, and kumihimo workshops to offer you! They are all described at the link below. You can enjoy private one-on-one instruction\, or you can recruit one or two friends for an intimate virtual group workshop. You will be contacted after your registration is received to set up mutually agreeable date(s)/time for your instruction. Note that you will have 90 days from the purchase of your virtual learning experience to complete your class. Exceptions for an extension are at the discretion of the owner of the Fiber Garden. You can meet one time or several to get your total instructional hours. SUMMARY:2023 Spring Spinners' Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Please note that until further notice\, all participants in Fiber Garden-hosted events are required to show proof of full COVID vaccination\, including at least one booster\, to participate. There may be additional protocols implemented to ensure maximum safety of participants.  By registering for a Fiber Garden-sponsored event\, you agree to comply with any established guidelines.  Now…on to the fun stuff! \nJoin the Fiber Garden and spinning friends for a weekend of spinning at the Cloquet Forest Center (CFC) near Cloquet\, MN! The 3\,000+ acre property is located 3 miles West of the city of Cloquet\, near Duluth. This retreat is an opportunity to gather as a spinning community\, working at your own skill level on projects of your choice. Deb will be there to coach\, guide\, and provide encouragement. There is no agenda for this weekend…just come and enjoy doing whatever you want\, whenever you want! You may choose to work on spinning yarn for a specific project\, experimenting with new fibers\, exploring novelty yarns\, or just pulling fibers out of your stash. Bring your own fibers\, or purchase them at the retreat from Deb’s “fiber shop” that will be on-site. Bring your own wheel or rent one from the Fiber Garden for a small fee. The only pre-requisite for the retreat is that you have some beginning spinning experience. You do not need to be an experienced spinner…”early-career” spinners are welcome and encouraged! \nA $100 non-refundable\, non-transferable deposit is required to reserve your space. The balance of the fee will be due about 3-4 weeks prior to the retreat. Retreat fees include lodging\, all meals\, use of CFC facilities and trails\, and a special gift! Lodging rooms have private baths with two twin beds and a desk\, wardrobe\, and WiFi. Space is limited and priority will be given to 3 and 4-night participants (and commuters). If lodging space remains 30 days prior to the retreat\, it will be open to those requesting to participate for two nights only. \nRetreat fees:\nFour nights single room – $450; four nights shared room (two twin beds) – $410\nThree nights single room – $370; three nights shared room (two twin beds) – $340\nTwo nights single room – $295; two nights shared room – $275\nCommuters – $95 for one day (Friday\, Saturday or Sunday); $135 for two days (Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun); $180 for three days (Fri/Sat/Sun); $225 for full commuter package Thursday afternoon – Sunday evening (Commuter rates include daily brunch and dinner\, use of facilities and retreat gift) \nRefund policy. Should an event be canceled by the Fiber Garden\, you will receive a full refund. If you choose to cancel for any reason\, no refunds will be issued. \nHow to Register:  Registrations will open at Noon Central time on February 1\, 2023.   Registration is a two-step process!!
