Please note that all 2022 events are pending due to the pandemic. Until further notice, all participants in Fiber Garden hosted events are required to show proof of full vaccination, including at least one booster, to participate. There may be additional protocols implemented to adhere to CDC guidelines and ensure maximum safety of participants. By registering for a Fiber Garden-sponsored event, you agree to comply with any established guidelines. Should an event be canceled by the Fiber Garden, you will receive a full refund of any payments made. Now…on to the fun stuff!

Join the Fiber Garden and spinning friends for a weekend of spinning at Holy Wisdom Monastery Retreat & Guest House in Middleton WI! The monastery grounds consist of more than 130 acres of land, including Lost Lake, the restored prairie and savanna areas, woodlands, gardens, orchards and nature trails. This retreat is an opportunity to gather as a spinning community, working at your own skill level on projects of your choice. Deb will be there to coach, guide, and provide encouragement. There is no agenda for this weekend…just come and enjoy doing whatever you want, whenever you want! You may choose to work on spinning yarn for a specific project, experimenting with new fibers, exploring novelty yarns, or just pulling fibers out of your stash. Bring your own fibers, or purchase them at the retreat from Deb’s “fiber shop” that will be on-site. Bring your own wheel or rent one from the Fiber Garden for a small fee. The only pre-requisite for the retreat is that you have some beginning spinning experience. You do not need to be an experienced spinner…”early-career” spinners are welcome and encouraged!

A $100 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit is required once a space has been released to you. The balance of the fee will be due about 4 weeks prior to the retreat. Retreat fees include lodging, all meals, use of Holy Wisdom Retreat Center facilities and trails, and a special gift! Lodging rooms have private baths a desk and a wardrobe. Space is limited and priority will be given to 3-night participants (and full-time commuters). If space remains 30 days prior to the retreat, it will be opened to those requesting to participate for two nights or part-time commuters.

Retreat fees:
Three nights single room – $475; three nights shared room (two twin beds) – $390
Two nights single room – $370; two nights shared room – $305
Commuters – $90 for one day; $150 for Friday and Saturday; $225 for full commuter package Thursday afternoon – Sunday noon (Commuter rates include all brunches and dinners, use of facilities and retreat gift)

If you request a double room and there is not another participant to share a room with, you will be charged for single occupancy.

Registrations open at noon Central time on Sunday, May 1. 2022! The registration/event website link below and will go “live” at this time. It will take you to a webpage to request a space on the retreat.  The Fiber Garden will release spaces to people until retreat spaces are filled.  Once a space is released to you, you will receive a second email from Eventbrite with a link to complete the full reservation process. This process allows the Fiber Garden to review the reservation requests and allocate lodging space, etc.
