and color expert. - Jamieson & Smith Wool Brokers. Purchasing wool from more than 700 Shetland producers and a great Shetland yarn shop.
Uradale Farm. Ronnie is in organic sheep and wool production and sells beautiful organic, dyed yarns.- Shetland Textile Museum. View their collections of Shetland lace and fair isle knits. Don’t be surprised if you meet a well-known knitter or two here!
- Unst Heritage Centre. For you Shetland lace lovers! A gathering with local spinners and knitters.
- Spindrift Crafts. A demonstration of natural dyeing with Shetland plants.
- Mousa Broch. The tallest broch still standing in Scotland on a serene Island
- Jarlshof Settlement. 4,000 years of human settlement here!
- Sumburgh Head. (And if we’re lucky, some Puffins!)

2023 Tour Flyer. All the basics
2023 Shetland FAQs. Answers to many of the questions you might be wondering about. Please review carefully, including the physical requirements.
Reservations. You may request a space on this tour beginning at noon Central time on Saturday, December 17. Making a reservation is a two-step process! Once you go to the reservation page for the event, you will complete the form to “request a space on this tour”. This allows the Fiber Garden to review your initial information, make sure that travel companions do not get separated, and review single vs. shared lodging requests against our room allocations. If a space is available for you, you will receive a second notification from the registration site informing you of the space and providing a link for you to submit the remainder of your information to complete the reservation.
Reservations are due by January 10, 2023! After this date, you can contact the Fiber Garden to check for any remaining available space.
Before making a reservation for this trip, be sure you have thoroughly read all of the information and documents on this page! You are responsible for all information provided to you regarding this tour. If this tour has reservation requests beyond its capacity, priority will be given to those who have NOT visited Shetland with the Fiber Garden in the past.
COVID protocols. To ensure the safety of those traveling in our group and those in Shetland we will visit, please be advised that you will be required to be fully vaccinated, plus boosted to participate in this tour. If the COVID situation changes, requiring additional protocols, these will be addressed as the tour gets closer. To participate in this tour, you must be willing to adhere to any COVID protocols in place at the time of our travel. The Fiber Garden will keep you updated on COVID-related requirements for travel.
The Fiber Garden reserves the right to refuse any reservation for their tours, including from individuals who have been non-compliant with health and safety protocols, or who have demonstrated a lack of consideration toward group members on previous tours.
