Please note that until further notice, all participants in Fiber Garden-hosted events are required to show proof of full COVID vaccination, including at least one booster, to participate. There may be additional protocols implemented to ensure maximum safety of participants.  By registering for a Fiber Garden-sponsored event, you agree to comply with any established guidelines.  Now…on to the fun stuff!

Join the Fiber Garden and spinning friends for a weekend of spinning at the Cloquet Forest Center (CFC) near Cloquet, MN! The 3,000+ acre property is located 3 miles West of the city of Cloquet, near Duluth. This retreat is an opportunity to gather as a spinning community, working at your own skill level on projects of your choice. Deb will be there to coach, guide, and provide encouragement. There is no agenda for this weekend…just come and enjoy doing whatever you want, whenever you want! You may choose to work on spinning yarn for a specific project, experimenting with new fibers, exploring novelty yarns, or just pulling fibers out of your stash. Bring your own fibers, or purchase them at the retreat from Deb’s “fiber shop” that will be on-site. Bring your own wheel or rent one from the Fiber Garden for a small fee. The only pre-requisite for the retreat is that you have some beginning spinning experience. You do not need to be an experienced spinner…”early-career” spinners are welcome and encouraged!

A $100 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit is required to reserve your space. The balance of the fee will be due about 3-4 weeks prior to the retreat. Retreat fees include lodging, all meals, use of CFC facilities and trails, and a special gift! Lodging rooms have private baths with two twin beds and a desk, wardrobe, and WiFi. Space is limited and priority will be given to 3 and 4-night participants (and commuters). If lodging space remains 30 days prior to the retreat, it will be open to those requesting to participate for two nights only.

Retreat fees:
Four nights single room – $450; four nights shared room (two twin beds) – $410
Three nights single room – $370; three nights shared room (two twin beds) – $340
Two nights single room – $295; two nights shared room – $275
Commuters – $95 for one day (Friday, Saturday or Sunday); $135 for two days (Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun); $180 for three days (Fri/Sat/Sun); $225 for full commuter package Thursday afternoon – Sunday evening (Commuter rates include daily brunch and dinner, use of facilities and retreat gift)

Refund policy. Should an event be canceled by the Fiber Garden, you will receive a full refund. If you choose to cancel for any reason, no refunds will be issued.

How to Register:  Registrations will open at Noon Central time on February 1, 2023.   Registration is a two-step process!! Click on the event “website” link below to request a space at the retreat. This link will take to you Eventbrite.  The Fiber Garden will release spaces to people requesting participation until retreat spaces are filled. This allows the Fiber Garden to review the list and to allocate for first-timers, allocate limited single and shared lodging space, give priority to 3 and 4-day attendees, etc.

If you request a double and there is no other participant to share a room with, you will be charged for single occupancy.
