Kapok fiber is the seed pod fibers from a tree. The hollow core makes kapok very light. Extremely waterproof. Kapok resists clumping, bouncing back to the original shape after washing, a useful property when stuffing soft toys. It is traditionally used for stuffing teddy bears, giving them quite a different feel from modern polyester stuffing. Kapok is also environmentally friendly: unlike polyester stuffing, kapok is a natural biodegradable fiber. It can be reused many times without developing mold or decaying. Please note that due to the wispy nature of Kapok, the fiber itself is flammable.
Fibers are sold by the ounce. Fiber color may differ from its appearance on your monitor.
