A fiber adventure in iconic Shetland!
This will be the Fiber Garden’s seventh visit to Shetland and we hope YOU will be able to join us in 2025! Led by our knowledgeable guide, Sarah McBurnie of See Shetland, here’s a sampling of places we may visit in Shetland:
Jamieson & Smith Wool Brokers. Purchasing wool from more than 700 Shetland producers and a great Shetland yarn shop.
Unst Heritage Centre. For you Shetland lace lovers! A gathering with local spinners and knitters.
Shetland Textile Museum. View their collections of Shetland lace and fair isle knits. Don’t be surprised if you meet a well-known knitter or two here!
Shetland Jewellery. Beautiful silver jewelry handcrafted in their workshop.
Mousa Broch. The tallest broch still standing in Scotland on a serene Island
Jarlshof Settlement. 4,000 years of human settlement here!
Donna Smith Designs.
Glansin Glass. A hands-on glass class!
Sumburgh Head. (And if we’re lucky, some Puffins!)
Garths Croft. Meet crofter Chris Dyer on the Island of Bressay
Eldamato (Dj Stefek). Spinner, dyer, knitter
Cliffs of Eshaness. Spectacular views!
Plus much more! It’s a fiber-packed itinerary, with opportunities to visit with and learn from local spinners and knitters, plus a grand tour through the breathtaking scenery of several Shetland islands. And, YES! You will see many sights from the Shetland series!
Cost is $4600 for double occupancy, and $5300 for single occupancy. These prices exclude round-trip air to Aberdeen and travel insurance. This is one of the most complete travel packages you will find anywhere! This price includes a half-day food and drink walking tour in Aberdeen, flight from Aberdeen to Sumburgh (Shetland), all lodging, three delicious meals daily during the tour, our own personal guide, all tour fees, overnight ferry with cabin from Lerwick to Aberdeen, all gratuities, and a tour “care package”. If you’d like to arrive a night early, the additional cost is $130 per person for a shared room and $190 for a single room which includes lodging, a three-course dinner on your arrival day, and breakfast the next morning. The group size will be very limited for this tour with a maximum of 12 travelers. Small group size is a great value as you will get “up close and personal” with the people and places we visit.
